Benjamin Best D.O.
Program Director
Dr. Best completed his undergraduate training at Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. He is a graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon graduation, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at St. John Providence Health System. Dr. Best then completed an additional fellowship in Trauma surgery at Wake Forest University-Baptist Health System. Dr. Best is an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon at Ascension St. John Hospital and Medical Center, a Level 1 trauma center.
Alan Afsari M.D.
Assistant Program Director
Dr. Afsari completed his undergraduate training at the University of Michigan. He then completed medical school at American University of the Caribbean, School of Medicine. Dr. Afsari then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Wayne State University. He went on to complete a fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma at the Florida Orthopedic Institute under the direction of Dr. Roy Sanders. He also completed additional training as an AO/ASIF international fellow studying complex hip and pelvic reconstruction/preservation at Inselspital, University Hospital of Bern, in Switzerland.
